I really wasn't sure I was going to like this one, even after getting into it. I remarked to my partner how this book was a lot of politics and religion with a sprinkle of fantasy elements mixed in. I think it was about 75% world building and the rest was the action-y stuffs. I DID care about the characters and felt that they were all very well written. There were times where the story seemed to drag a bit, BUT after finishing the book I realized that those draggy parts were super important especially to take the reader (and the characters) straight to the conclusion. This was apparently Sanderon's first book, and it does show a bit. The writing is wonderful, but there were, as previously mentioned, a few parts where I as the reader was like.."Just get to the point!" However, in my opinion the slog through those bits were well worth it! The characters were all nicely fleshed out. My only irk with that aspect was the character of Adien, he comes through near the end a...
